Today we got to go look at houses.
Ricky drove all around an area about 15 minutes from his house and showed us apartments that were for sale that he’d seen in the paper or that we happened by.
Robert was planning on finding an apartment to rent but after talking with Ricky we said we’d look at some apartments that are for sale.
Ricky feels that it would be an investment instead of giving the money to someone else.
With an apartment, there wouldn’t be a yard to care for and there would be little upkeep in the beginning because it is new construction.
The first apartment we looked at was first class costing $60,000.
It was brand new, had parquet and tile floors, three bathrooms, a nice kitchen and was roomy and attractive in its design.
It really was pretty, but much too nice for a missionary family.
We looked at quite a few more from $37,000 to $75,000.
Most were new constructions and a few older.
The last one he brought us to we were very pleased with.
It was across from a very pretty park, had cheery flowers hanging from each story, and had pretty Spanish style tile decorating the front.
The living room was very spacious and there was parquet and tile throughout the house.
The three bedrooms were small but there were 2 bathrooms.
The kitchen was very nice, too, which I am not expecting but would really enjoy.
Another good thing about this one is that it is only 5 minutes from Ricky’s house.
Since we are going to be working with him, it is good to be close by.
We had calls from Carolina, an interpreter from when the church had the adult mission trip last summer and from Pastor Juan who Deryk and Serena Livingston from AIM suggested we talk to.
We’ll go to Pastor Juan’s for lunch tomorrow and see Carolina on Monday.
Sara Coello wrote, too, saying that she’d like to see us when she comes to Peru December 6th after a mission trip to the jungle.
Ricky also plans for us to help Terry Hunka, the director of ChildReach, during a mission trip they have this December.
Also, there are the classes that start next Tuesday.
That’s pretty scary but oh so necessary.
Robert is picking up words and places we are driving.
I think that my hearing problem limits me picking up the language in the same way.
I feel unable to pick it up still.
I hope our friends are praying for a miracle for me with learning Spanish.
