Our church service with Pastor Moises was quite different than the others we’ve attended and very special.
Ricky warned us as we headed towards the church that Pastor Moises will have us come forward during the service and say something to the congregation.
I guess that is better than not knowing until the moment we’re called up front.
Instead I was able to panic, try to form my thoughts in what I might say if asked, and then when the time came forget it all anyway.
So goes my public speaking.
In fact, Kelsey did much better than I did and she spoke to them in Spanish.
What a girl!
I am very proud of her and the people cheered her.
We’ll the service was the end of a weekend retreat for married couples, 40 of the people being new believers as well.
They came off the bus greeted with cheers, signs and flowers from the congregation who awaited their return.
Then there was a time of 20 or so people giving testimony of how God worked in their lives during the retreat.
There was much applause and many tears as well.
Lots of spontaneous moments happened with couples and families as they went forward to support the person speaking.
There was a time of worship with lots of dancing happening toward the front of the church.
People were jumping up and down and dancing round in round in circles, some hooking arms and dancing around, some dancing in chains moving through the people.
Not quite like we practice back in CT.
Robert was quick to join the dancers and people kept grabbing my hand and bringing me into the throng.
They were jubilant to say the least.
Robert took a picture of me dancing with several people, including the pastor.
Robert was pretty pleased with himself.
It is so much out of the norm for me that he liked getting a shot of it.
Pastor Moises gave a message on families.
It wasn’t lengthy, but I could tell it was sincere and loving.
Ricky told me the subject matter when we were headed home.
The pastor gave an alter call and three young girls came forward together.
They had other young women come forward to counsel them after the pastor spoke with them and then led them through a pray for salvation.
The counselors had material to go through with the new converts.
It was all very organized and well thought out.
After the alter call, the pastor was praying and I looked up and there must have been 100 people on their knees in the front off the church on the cement floor.
Ricky told me that Pastor Moises had asked for those to come forward for prayer for their family members.
After the service the pastor and his wife asked if we’d consider attending their church on a regular basis.
We didn’t make any promises, but Robert let them know that his heart was with them.
This is one of the pastors that is prayerfully considering sponsoring the World Race Teams.
He mentioned it to his congregation during the service when he asked us to come forward.
