December 9

We joined Terri and his wife Brenda as they prepared for their mission trip group to come.
We took a taxi to their hotel and called a man who was coming with his VW van for them to use for the week.
He said he’d be there by 11:00.
When Ricky called, he said it would be another hour because he realized he needed to put the seats back in his van.
We decided to walk through the park to a mall and have some coffee at Starbucks and wait for him there.
It ended up taking 2 ½ hours for him to show up.
Terry says you have to plan this kind of time allowance for all the mission trip plans.
If you want to eat at 7:00, you tell the local people who are preparing it to have it ready at 6:00 and it might be ready at 7:00.
We stopped by Pastor Moises’s home and picked up bedding, clothes, shoes, and kitchen supplies that ChildReach had brought down during an earlier trip for Hannah’s Home.
Pastor Moises stored it in a locked area in his garage since last March.
We picked up boxes of water for the americanos (we can’t drink their water without getting very sick) and dropped everything off at a locked room in the house at Hannah’s Home and then stopped by to visit with the children at the orphanage.
Since Robert, Kelsey and I had plans to visit with Sara Coello and her son Bruno, we couldn’t stay long.

Ricky drove the VW bus and brought us to Bruno’s.
It has no power steering so it is very difficult to maneuver through the streets of

Lima, particularly with the way people drive here.
It also won’t stay idling so it is a huge challenge to drive.
Ricky uses this vehicle because he can borrow it for $20 a day.
It would cost the same to have the owner drive but ChildReach would also incur the cost of his meals.

We had a wonderful reunion with Sara Coello and Robert and Kelsey got to meet her son and his family for the first time.
After visiting and praying we all left to have chicken at a local restaurant called Roky’s.
Roasted chicken with salad, French fries, and Incakola is a favorite in

Peru.
Bruno and Santa (means holy)’s 3 ½ year old son, Jonathan, played with Kelsey the whole time.
She continues to be a kid magnet.
Santa had just returned from her church where she was practicing with the chorus Christmas carols in Spanish and in English.
After the dinner, we took a taxi back to Ricky’s after another nice visit over chamomile tea.
Sara and Bruno walked us out to the main street and made sure we got a decent fair and honest appearing driver.
