On the 31st, Robert and I visited a Christian Missionary
Alliance Church 2 blocks from Ricky’s house that has a noon service in English.
It was their 3rd service of the day, the others being in Spanish.
There were only 15-20 people in attendance but it was good to fellowship together with other believers who we could understand their words as well as see their heart for Jesus. We sang worship songs together in English and heard a good sermon about having a clean slate to live for Christ this coming year.
As the service ended, all were invited to stay for refreshments and fellowship but Robert was inclined to skoot.
As we headed for the door, several friendly people insisted we stay and have some soda and Panaton bread with them.
We ended up meeting a couple who own a language institute close to the church. He is Peruvian and she is
Americana.
They invited us to try out their Spanish class.
They also said they planned to have us over to their home when we told them we were here with Adventures in Missions.
A professor of Art History told us he’d like to give us a tour of downtown
Lima and his wife, a doctor, gave Robert a prescription for the stomach bug he’s had the past 3 weeks. As we walked back to Ricky’s, Robert said “I think this has been a ‘God thing’”.
We will see where the Lord leads in the future with these kind people and their church.
